Colleen,

I'm so glad you really did get to see Dr. Kaplan today. That is great

about being in the study. I would be interested in seeing more research

about this drug if you have it available.

Hi everyone,

I had my first consult with Dr. Kaplan today and asked me if I would be

interested in being in a clinical trial. Here is the scoop: I'll be the 8th

of 10 patients. It is using Enbrel, which is a drug used to treat rheumatoid

arthritis. Dr. Kaplan thinks that it could slow or stop the inflammatory

reaction that may cause PSC. It will run for 3 months, and I will need to

inject Enbrel twice a week. It is supposed to reduce the itching as well.

The down side is I'll have to go in for blood work every two weeks, but it

looks like my new job will be about two blocks from NEMC, so that is of very

little concern.

If you want any more info, just shout.

He is actually what we in Connecticut used to refer to as a " Crusty

old swamp Yankee. " By the way,

> that is a term of endearment and respect, so anyone who is a

patient, please

> don't take offense!

Colleen,

That was funny. I guess it has been a long time since we have seen

DR Kaplan. I don't remember him as looking crusty. Hehe.

I'm glad you got to see him. I think you will like him. He is

really easy to talk to and he talks so can understand him. We

haven't seen him in 5 years or so. I'm don't work anymore and Tony's

insurance doesn't cover going to see him. Luckily Tony has been

feeling good. Hopefully when I go back to work I will find a job

with insurance that covers seeing DR Kaplan.

Well Colleen I wish you the best and please keep us posted

Wow, keep us all posted on it. It sounds like it

would help any arthritic pain.....oh, I'm jealous, my

body is revolting in this nasty weather and every bone

in my body is aching right now.

Good luck and keep us posted.
