Guest guest
My daughter, almost 2, has the same problem with her legs and feet. Her left foot is about a size or so smaller then the right, her left leg from the knee down is much smaller in circumference then the right and her left leg is about an inch shorter then the right. Do you wear a lift or any type of brace? Abby is in a DAFO but no lift. I'm not overly thrilled with her ortho right now and looking into Shriners. Any experience with them? , new wife to Rich, mom to Mike (13), Sam (10) and Abby (23 months) ________________________________ To: tetheredspinalcord Sent: Monday, August 10, 2009 11:23:19 AM Subject: deformities ? Hi family!! I know with TSC, you can have deformities. Just wondering who out there has this? And what is the extent? The reason I ask is because I have NEVER seen anyone with my type of leg & foot deformity before. I am begining to think I am alone with this.......My right leg & foot are bigger than my normal size left. My shoe size on left is a 7.5, and a 9.5Wide on the other. Also my calf is much larger. So, I was just wondering.. Thanks Donna

Guest guest
My almost four year old daughter's left foot and calf are much bigger than the right ones. She wears a brace on her left foot/ankle so that makes it almost the same size as the other one. The physical therapist at her last check up said that her calf muscle isn't working (or in my opinion only working a little). Her left foot/ankle were severely pronated when we adopted her last year, now it's not too bad and she can straighten it when reminded if she doesn't have the brace on. Guest guest
I am now 33, but been to Shriners LOTS when young. When I was 1-2yrs, they didnt know about the TSC, and placed my leg & foot in a cast to try to stop the growth. Of course, that didnt work. I do have a length diff too, but dont wear a lift.....not too sure why. My size diff is that my right left & foot are bigger, not smaller. So it is really hard to buy shoes. I really wish places would " split " sizes. Instead I am forced to either: 1: buy 2 pairs 2: wear 3 pairs of socks on the smaller foot 3: Swap sizes & hope the sales clerk dosent notice. Guest guest
Hi! No, you're not alone. All my life, my right leg and foot have been smaller and skinnier than my left. Right foot is 5 double wide, and left is 6 wide. Tough time finding shoes that fit without adding to the right one and/or stretching the right one. Also, I won't wear dresses much 'cause people make remarks on the difference in the calves... Barb Subject: deformities ? To: tetheredspinalcord Date: Monday, August 10, 2009, 11:23 AM Hi family!! Guest guest
Yes Barb, I dont wear dresses or shorts either, let alone any type on a sandel. I guess I was teased so much as a kid I now have a complex. I have been told that my right (bigger one) is all muscle and no type of surgery to make " normal " can be done. > > > > Subject: deformities ? > To: tetheredspinalcord > Date: Monday, August 10, 2009, 11:23 AM > > > > > > > Hi family!! > > I know with TSC, you can have deformities. > Just wondering who out there has this? Guest guest
I remembered there was a website that helped match people with opposite sized feet. Not sure if you could use that but it's www.oddshoefinder.com. My daughter's smaller side is the left, too. Guest guest
While my legs are the same size, my right foot has always been a half size smaller than my left. Never knew why growing up. Never was able to wear shoes that didn't lace or have sufficient straps, or it would fall off my small foot. Also, when I would wear flip-flops, the shoe would drag. Everyone would tell me to pick up the shoe when I walked, but I couldn't- and no one believed me. I also had a strange wear pattern on the soles. The heel on the outside would wear WAY down - to the poi t there was no sole left. Jenn Sent from my iPhone > Yes Barb, I dont wear dresses or shorts either, let alone any type > on a sandel. Guest guest
My left foot is 1/2 a size smaller than the right. I suppose the whole leg is a bit smaller, but not enough to notice. I remember vaguely wearing orthopedic shoes when I was little, I guess because my foot turned in a bit.
Guest guest
My left foot is 1/2 size smaller than the right also, but the right leg is shorter lol. Supposed to wear a lift but it gets on my nerves, slipping around and getting in the wrong spot. Pronate when I walk but have a bad habit of standing on the " sides " of my feet when standing...dont ask me, I'm just wierd like that LOL. Subject: Re: deformities ?
