Guest guest
This is embarrassing to post, but if I am going to be held accountable, I gotta do it. So, this past weekend my husband and I relived our college days – and my college days were not very familiar with the concept of Low cal. My husband graduated from Univ of MO at Rolla and UMR has a big St. Pat's celebration each year (supposedly the oldest student St. Pat's celebration). Just to give you an idea, the school closes on Thurs & Fri of St. Pats week there. The celebration is put on by the St. Pats board and it takes a lot to make it through the whole 3 years of the St. Pats board but my husband did it and so every year we go back and my husband along with the other St. Pats board alumni paints the main street green for the parade. Let me just say this – there is a lot of drinking involved. (Disclaimer – we do this once a year, we are in a our mid 20's, no kids, and we never drive) So, on Friday – I was at work and stuck to the plan while at work all day. That night for dinner however, we went out to a Mexican restaurant and I got a taco salad with chicken, which could have been decently healthy except for the fact I ate the fried shell. We hung out at the fraternity house then went to the bar. I estimate my alcohol intake that night to have been around 10 pints of beer. Estimated calories according to FitDay – around 2800. Ouch. Friday's calories were driven up by the beer but Saturday was ugly too due to my poor food choices. On Saturday, I got up early to watch hubby paint the streets and then we went to Shoney's for breakfast. Now that I think about it, I could have had the breakfast bar and stuck to the cereal, fresh fruit, and salad, but instead I chose the chicken tenders with fries. We then took a nice long afternoon nap and got up and went back to the fraternity. I had maybe 4 beers on Saturday night. Hubby and I went out for dinner to a pizza place and split a large pizza. Another not good choice. Then I went home and had a Gatorade. Before I tell you the estimated calories, I'll use this for a learning experience – I didn't enter in any caloric info in FitDay until we got home yesterday. Before I looked up the information and entered it in, I was thinking that Saturday wouldn't be too bad b/c yeah, I ate like crap, but I really only ate twice. I was thinking a max of 2000 cals. Wrong. I looked up the Shoney's meal I had – it was 1000 calories. The ½ pizza was another 1000. Add on the Gatorade and the other 4 beers, I am right back at 2800 cals again. Yesterday on the way home, I thought I was being much better – we ate at Applebee's and I got a chicken Caesar salad with the dressing on the side but somehow yesterday I still wound up around 1700 calories, not bad, but I was thinking it was going to be a super low cal day. So, these are my confessions. On the one hand, this is a once a year thing and we had a good time and I have been pretty strict with myself up until now, but on the other hand, ouch!!! Two 2800 calorie days in a row???? If I had eaten healthier, Saturday could've been much lower. And I took healthy food down there with me to help myself stay on the diet. So, I am kind of kicking myself right now. I was kicking myself a lot more yesterday after I entered my food intake in though. There isn't much I can do about it now but just stay as strict as possible with the diet. Another thing is that I didn't work out Fri – Sun, which means I missed a cardio work out and a LBWO. I got up early and went to the gym this morning though to get in my LBWO and I did 20 mins of cardio. I am going to go to the gym tonight too to do my UBWO and some more cardio. Normally I try to stay around 1600 cals but I think this week I am going to try to keep my intake closer to 1400 cals a day. So, have I doomed myself with my binge from hell? Not forever, but for the course of this challenge? I am trying to convince myself that I haven't. But again, the only thing I can do is follow the program to a T for the next 6 weeks.
