Guest guest
Patti, it CAN be done.......I'm 55 and only started on this " stuff " in January of 2004. My bodyfat % was probably in the 15-20% range. In the fitness challenge Spouse and I did, a 12 week one locally, I lost 18 pounds and dropped from a size 10 clothes to 4 and 6, sometimes a 2. Bear in mind that I have gained about 8 pounds of it back, but it is all muscle, since I can still wear the same size clothes. Spouse and I have started competing in bodybuilding competitions, we did our first one last November and will do another on May 7th. It ISard work, and some days I give in and have a doughnut or 2, but with my hectic physical activity I don't worry about it too much. It just takes commitment, but YOU HAVE TO WANT TO DO IT FOR YOU......not for your spouse, not for the baby, or your MIL, or mom.....FOR YOU! Until you get to that point, you will not be committed. My BF% at competition last Nov. was 7.8%, it's a little over 8 now but I know I will probably lean out before May 7th. And, please, don't listen to the naysayers that will come at you from all directions that are going to tell you that you won't be able to do it because the baby will take time, you will be tired.....blah, blah, blah..........WE have some friends that are insanely jealous of how we look because we have something that they can't go and buy, which really torques them off. He has health problems that would certainly benefit by his losing 50 pounds, and she started out gung-ho, since she wanted to look like me in 8 weeks time, without eating correctly OR exercising. Well, it ain't gonna happen if'n you don't work at it, believe me. You, however, have taken the first step and sound like you really want to, so, m'dear Patti, bend over and I will give you the kick in the pants you need to get started!!!!!!!!!LOL Ready, set.........go!!!!!!!!! The best way to get motivated is to take those " before " pix of you-front, back, and both sides views in a 2 piece swimsuit and put those suckers up where you HAVE to look at them when you are thinking of noshing in the fridge, freezer, or cupboards. Remember, as one of my best friends says.... " Nothing tastes as good as slim feels..... " Z.
