Tammy, I scored much lower than you did. I wouldn't get distressed about it -

even if you do have Asperger's syndrome (AS), the most common problem among

adults with AS is sensory sensitivity. And you clearly have that, because you

are here.

A low EQ score doesn't mean you are defective, rather it means that you aren't

very wired for social interaction. The flip side of this is that you may well

have strengths - even outstanding strengths - in other areas of your life. Many

people with AS have made significant contributions to society. At least one

person with a Nobel prize (Vernon L , co-winner of the 2002 Nobel prize for

economics) was diagnosed with AS (see

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Vernon_L._). He did a public

interview in 2005 about his AS diagnosis.

Having a low EQ score may mean that you think independently from " the herd " ,

which can be a great asset. As Tony Attwood, one of the world experts on AS,

said: AS is not a defect, it is a difference - it needs to be accepted and

sometimes even applauded, not pitied.

and sound more empathetic than I probably actually am because I was trying to

get a high score! Even rigging the test, I got a 20!

says not to take the tests 'too seriously' because the scores are just

'averages' and everyone is different. But maybe that's good for you people on

the fence but it sounds like I'm in deepwater. If you score that low, maybe you

are not an average, maybe I have a problem. yikes!

> But I've lived my life this way for 28 years and this is not hte first time

someone has suggested to me that I might have Aspbergers. What can I do about it

now? i don't see how knowing really helps me any.
