Guest guest
Lynn, Whether Yoga has a thereputic reason to help PSC or not, it is a wonderful way to stay relaxed and fit. It is a gently exercise that helps you stay in shape while not hurting yourself. When I did it (years ago, I can't get into any exercise lately - time and will power) it helped me to sleep, kept me regular and helped me to keep my weight in control, and my back pain free. Guest guest
I don't think size matters that much. You want someone that really knows what they are doing and don't have you do things that could hurt you. When I took it I had back problems (that orthopedic doctors weren't able to help - their advice to exercise was the best - my were mostly because of very poor posture). My instructor didn't have me standing on my head she helped me to ease into just as much as my body would allow. I can't remember what group her class was under but we met at a place in our shopping mall. It might have been through the Junior College. Even though she was American she had studied under a very experienced person (I can't remember what they are called). Later I tried classes through the park district and she left the lights on and stuff and I couldn't get into it. You might try adult education classes or the WMCA or maybe even a private gym when I belonged to the gyms they didn't have any evening programs. I also found Lilias on tv or her video tapes to be pretty good but it's easier to stick to a class. I need to lose some weight, maybe I'll try my Lilias tape. The deep relaxation at the end is so good if you can really get into it. It really works! Peg Vizas wrote: > Peg > Where would I start to find a good Yoga instructor? Guest guest
Lynn, Lilias Folan has 17 offering at http://www.amazon.com/. Select Video & DVD then search for " Lilias Folan " or for a wider selection " yoga " . I found the reviews, both editorial and by viewers helpful. Some found Lilias's talking distracting others found it centered them. One said she could find time for a Lilias session or two even though busy with work and three preschool children. Her latest seems to be a 4 tape set - " Lilias! Flowing Postures Series " $33.96. (Available individually for $13.99) " Lilias! Workout for Beginners " and " Lilias! Yoga Basics " were the least expensive at $9.95 each. Peg which of your tapes do you like the most? Guest guest
Whoops, I didn't read the last line. I only have one - Alive with Yoga (for beginners). It was good when I was having neck problems. I used to exercise with her when she was on t.v. back when I was home with the kids ions ago. Thanks you guys, you've inspired me to get back with it. I was able to do it when I didn't work but actually I probably should use it more now to get rid of the stresses of work. Phil is having a lot of neck pain. Maybe I can get him to do it with me and that would help motivate me - he sticks to things better than I do. Peg Romlein wrote: > Lynn, > Lilias Folan has 17 offering at http://www.amazon.com/. Guest guest
Peg, Maybe I sould get a Lilias tape too. I've been having neck pain since I went off prednisone. It's under control, but I'd like to have it resolved and gone. Having my big problem (PSC) taken care of by the transplant, now I have little problems :-) Tim ltx 4/4/98 --- Phil & Peggy Alfeld wrote: > > Whoops, I didn't read the last line.
