Guest guest Posted April 23, 1999 Report Share Posted April 23, 1999 Hi All: I'm sitting here in such pain. Back to the Uro I go to see if it's an UTI. My entire lip area is red, raw, itching. I know I have no yeast etc. as I just went to the gyno. The sad thing for me is that all I did was touch the area that she burnt off the supposedly HPV (on the clitoris or all things) and I knew as soon as I pulled back my finger I was in trouble. It was like pulling a band aid off a wound not healed. I pray it's not a bladder infection since it relapses me for months when I go on an anti. I have CFS. I can't handle antibs. I just want to scream or cry, but instead I sit in silence hating myself for touching that area. I had been pain free for about 2 months so decided to check. LOL, I thought I was cured without any treatment. What was I thinking??? The clitoris is so close to the urethra pain it's so hard for me to tell. Anyway, I had to vent. I realized as I was suffering in silence, that all of you relate. Thanks for listening. I'm dropping off my urine tom. and starting the estrace tom. night. Hours later I remembered the aromatherapy massage oil I'd used hours before, I'd washed my hands but it must've been that still on my hands even thought there was no smell. I am in constant pain with Crohns and a bad back but NOTHING is like this pain -cos of where it is - it totally dominates life. All I want out of life is never to be in pain. Pamper yourself while you're going through this. Have you tried soaking in a bath with just plain water or either hot or cold compresses? Do you have some medication for the pain? Hopefully you'll get relief soon!! So your doctor thought you had a genital wart on your clitoris?? How did she " burn it off " ? With a laser? YIKES! I can't even imagine that. I'm sorry if you already told us about this - I have such a terrible memory (it's the fibro, they tell me!) Anyway - you said you're getting checked for a UTI, but you also said you had red/itchy/rawness around your labia. Do you have urinary symptoms? I'm just wondering because I didn't think that a UTI would cause redness, etc. in the labial area. I don't know much about that area, though. I'm sorry you are going through the same thing. I agree, because of the area, it just makes it so hard. It's also so hard to talk to anyone about it. That's why this list is so important. THANK YOU HEIDI. I read your post and I didn't feel so alone, you know? I can relate to the touching after using some sort of chemical. I wash my hands and am so careful with everything and just some days, air just flares it. LOL. Thanks for your post. I did take some Tums and it seemed to help, although I'm still itchy. It didn't happen right away. My gyno thought I had HPV on my clitoris because I was complaining of extreme itching. I had been going through a real bad bout of yeast infections and UTI's at the time. She burnt it off with acid, claiming I had white dots under the vinegar wash. Ever since then I'm totally damaged. I mean there is no way I can have sex or wear jeans. I went through a real hate period there for a while. Then I wrote her, sent her all the VV stuff and spoke to her. She did feel bad, but you know what? This is MY body and I'm left with it. I'm hoping once the flare dies down and I apply the Estrace I'll improve. I also got a name of a good Physical Therapist that I'm considering seeing. She spoke at a VV convention here. Plus I ditched the gyno. I can't stress enough on this list that if you are any way not happy with your gyno go to another. I hung onto mine for 10 yrs just because of the comfort zone. When I get a flare I get the IC symptoms and the VV so I don't know what is what. I just know 2 different things are happening. The urethra or the clitoris is killing me (can't tell which one is really hurting) and then I get the raw/red which is the VV. I did get some relief, although I'm still in pain and red as ever. Had to have a medical for insurance and the nurse who did it didn't even kow what the Bartholin glands were or where they were!! When she left she thanked me for all the help I'd given her - in other words, I filled in the form for her!!!!! God help us. I KNOW the gynae in two weeks is just going to fob me off - WHY do these people became doctors???OK, the money is good but what they have to do for it isn't something I'd do for the salary!!!! My GP who is a nasty bit of work has a docotr who is training with him for one morning a week. She is kind and caring - she does whatever I ask, if you are tactful enough we can self prescribe with a decent GP like her - but I fear in a few years once in full time practice she will be like all the others. I really, really want to sue this doctor as she has ruined me and I've been suffering for a solid year on top of the VV I've had for years. She's just made it worse. She saw the white spots, treated me with the acid and then did a biopsy. Doesn't seem in the right order. Also she was in a very rushed, witchy mood that day. Told me this would take all the pain away and for me to make my decision. I was in tears telling her I just had a cysto last week and I can't keep beating up my body. She didn't care. She needed me to make my decision so she could get onto her next patient. It was basically, do you want to have sex again or not. I had just started a new relationship and I honestly believed she would fix me.If anyone knows how to go about a mal practice suit let me know. One quack I went to lasered me for HPV all around my vaginal opening, injected my sore spots with alcohol, plus did a hysterectomy at age 38 for vulvar pain. Since I'm now better, all I hope to get from this list is the opportunity to steer other women clear of these invasive, damaging procedures. The white spots that showed up on you after the vinegar wash could very well have been yeast. That's exactly what showed up on me after the vinegar wash except for my problem had been untreated so long that the white spots actually looked like white veins. Those white spots can be a sign of fungal overgrowth. And I know what I'm talking about because that's exactly what it says on my medical report from Dr. Gordon who successfully treated me. I used to be a legal secretary, though I didn't work in med mal. Sometimes we really do have to follow our gut feeling as women. I had a feeling it wasn't HPV. I've suffered from yeast since the 80's. I know what you mean about following our gut feeling as women. If I would have listened to mine, I never would have had my vulva burned with a laser or had a hysterectomy. It never did make sense to me and I asked my doctor twice how removing my uterus would help a burning pain in my vulva. It still makes me angry when I think of what your doctor did to you. Sometimes we really do have to follow our gut feeling as women. I had a feeling it wasn't HPV. I've suffered from yeast since the 80's. This would make sense and to be left like I am now just breaks my heart. However, since coming on the list, reading about Estrace and the success, I have new hope. It's also so wonderful how we all can share and then we don't feel alone. Knowledge is power as they say. My next step is to see a Physical Therapist who is very much an advocate for VV. I would never have learned about PT if it wasn't for people on here. I told myself if I ever get cured I'd stay on here like you are to encourage and educate women. I'm glad you're here.
