Hmmm interesting I was thinking about that aspect too. The organs can be

directed to someone specific. I know it must be hard for you to think of

that aspect.

Barb,

First of all thanks for the message! :-) I do agree wholeheartedly with

everything you say, but I probably couldn't say it as well. Really I am

very comfortable with the whole idea of recieving a donated organ... I

agree that it's a loving gift that a family can make to honor their

loved one.

The things that I was worried about this morning weren't really to do

with whether organ donation was a good thing or not... I always have

believed it to be good, and I still do. The things that were bothering

ne this morning were that, in a way, I learned too early in the process

that there was a possibility of getting an organ. I didn't like the

feeling that I was waiting for this person to die. I really don't think

I'd have a problem accepting an organ if it had already been donated

when I learned about it. I guess that's part of why they run the

transplant program the way they do.

The other thing that made me unsure was that I've just been listed... I

may not officially be on the list yet in fact (it takes a few days for

the paperwork etc). All of my doctors say that I'm really in pretty

good health and don't really need a transplant right now, but that since

they know I will need one eventually, they want me on the list. Knowing

that, I wasn't sure I wanted to try to bypass the list with a directed

donation, when there are probably others who need a transplant much more

than I do right now.

I still don't know what the situation is now. I'm still not sure what

my decision will be if I have to make one, but I do believe that organ

donation is the right thing to do, and if I do end up getting a

transplant, I will accept the gift gratefully.

Thanks again for your comments!

With that adorable face you just have to drop what you're doing and play

with her. I bet she has you wrapped around her little finger. Is Baba a

mispronunciation of Papa?
