Guest guest
Hi All, Last email for tonight I promise. I am not sure if putting the web link in the subject line is going to send these emails directly to your junk bin…. If you could please do me a favour and just let me know you have received this email I would really appreciate it, that way I can judge how many people are actually getting spammed by me or not J I will re post a topic on the forum about this but thought it might be good to send a quick email out here too. One of the problems with the yahoo group is information / email overload. We all know the problem with getting 100s of emails from this group a month and although there are options to reduce this such as daily digest etc etc one of the largest advantages to the forum is you will be able to control what email notifications you receive. Meaning if you are interested in a topic you can “watch” it and receive notice by email when a response is made. Or on the other hand if you choose not to receive emails at all and only log on and check the board when you feel like it, or if you are like me and want to keep an eye on whats happening site wide you can “watch” the entire board. So here is a few quick screen shots to show you have to “watch” a topic or forum. You will need to be a registered member to do this. 1. – Choose which topics to watch.Say you liked the information in a topic posted by paige called: Trendy Tricks - Ways to hide earplugs & look good doing it! And you wanted to keep up to date with any responses to that topic down the bottom of the screen when you reading a topic you like is a button called subscribe topic: If you press this button you will now receive emails every time someone posts to that topic. The button will then change to unsubscribe topic and if you have had enough you can click that at any point and you will stop receiving updates. 2. How to watch a topic you have started: When you write a post, at the bottom of the post you will see some tick boxes, tick the one that says “Notify me when a reply is posted” and you will always receive updates when people post to your post. 3. How to be notified when a reply is made by default If on the other hand you are like me and just want to set and forget and not worry about ticking that box each and every time there is a trick. You can set an option to make that box ticked by default on every post you start or reply to, ( but not every post on the forum) To do this please follow these steps: 1. Press the user control panel button at the top of the forum: 2. Then press Board Preferences.3. Edit Posting Details4. And change the tick box on “notify me upon replies by default” to “yes”5. Press submit And that’s it. Lastly how to “watch” entire Forums: Say you were interested in watching for any new topic in the Public Forum Tips and Tricks If you scroll right down to the bottom of the screen while you will see the following button: Press that and you are done J So hopefully knowing this, you can reduce the amount of un wanted email in your in box and only focus on topics that are of interest to you. Have a good night everyone.
