Guest guest
I was under the impression, that CT scans were safe. Thanks for letting me know that there is a risk of radiation posioning. Ive had a few of these in the past. Now iam concerned about damage they may have already done to my already compramised lungs. nyzki to tell you how 'safe or not ' the scans are..let's put it this way.. when you have a scan done, where are the techs? sitting behind glass. I am extremely claustrophobic. Even an open tunnel such as the CT scan leaves me w/much anxiety..I'm ok as long as somene is beside me, talking to me..i mean next to me in the room..I cant help it..it's just a phobia of mine. Do you think one of those techs would soothe my anxiety by standing w/me while the test is being performed? hell no..they dont want exposure. Once, this sweet young girl noticed my level of anxiety and actually stayed with me. Other times my daughter has gone w/me ..it's the only way I can get thru them. But, just as an example..that should tell you that any exposure is there. Depending on what the CT Scan is for, yes, there are other alternatives..but the CT scan, the PET scan are wonderful tools for evaluation..and a gift. I say anything in moderation can't hurt us, and you have to consider the alternative. We are sick people. We have to weigh the pros n cons. If no other course of dx'ng is an option nor available, such as PET or CT scans of the lungs..what other recourse do you have? How do you expect the dr to treat you if he doesn't have the information at hand or knows what he's treating? If he cant see the internal damage done how will he know how to handle your case? It is very individual and personal..but dont be afraid the sky is going to fall...if you live in a world of fear your bottom may fall out before the sky falls on you..
