Guest guest
I have seen several mention taking flax seed oil. I remember reading sometime back that flax seed oil inhibits (is that the right word?) the thyroid. Is this true or not? Rhonda

Guest guest
I've had dry skin for a good 18 yrs, & brittle nails, but the problems would come and go , so one month the DRs detect something, then the next time its normal ,..so I was left untreated until Jan.2003. by then a lot of terrible things had already happened to me. I have never had a dry scalp before, my skin is dry, I use a lot of lotion,. I use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners.... but lately my hair is falling out at a steady pace. so I am trying to fix the scalp and keep the hair... !!! > I wish I had more of an answer for you...............can it be thyroid > related? Guest guest
well I dont know what happened tonight, I replied to this message, and it said it would post and it never did. but the last message I did (3rd one)_ posted, so i do not know where two of them went to.... so now to try and remember this all over again............ , my mouth has been dry for many years, I have been hypoglycemic all my life so have and extreme thirst. my eyes are not dry, but this year they have been extremely watery, I carry tissues and hankies with me at all times to wipe my eyes. I cant even drive because half the time I cannot see thru watery eyes., no allergy meds are helping. I take claritin for my cedar allergies.. and that use to work fine, but not this year !! I have to stay indoors with an air cleaning machine. so no dry eyes for me. my Free T's were posted way back in May, thats the last time they were done... this is the results; Free T 3 = 3.7 (2.3-4.2) Free T4 = 1.1 (0.8-1.8) ... in Jan 2003 I started losing my hair, in large amounts, i still have all my hair in ziplock bags. I have long hair below my shoulder blades., it use to be very thick and bushy, now its extremely thin. in jan. it was like I lost every 2-3 hair strands. I'm in a panick, and now this dry scalp. this did not start til just a couple months ago.. so am not sure why or what. no, I have no reddness, or soreness, and no itching at all. just these flakes. my skin has been very dry for the past 18 yrs., but its pretty much still the same now. my hair got drier over the years, but cant figure the flakes. the hair is coming out at a steady pace this time. so I am not too happy about this. I bought some head n shoulders for dry scalp. am hoping something will help.
Guest guest
That T3 is definitely too low, and it wouldn't hurt for the T4 to come up, even though it says " normal " . It may not be normal for YOU. You are definitely undermedicated. Evening Primrose Oik does not work overnight, it takes a few months to see any difference, but I have seen a pretty good difference in mine. I think that the Omega 3s are good for this anyway. It is guesswork at this point. It still wouldn't hurt to have a saliva test for the cortisol, DHEAs, testosterone, and estrogens, plus progesterone.
