Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me information on American Academy in Plantation. My son will be going to high school next year and I want to find a place that can be challenging academically, but on the other hand that can be understanding of his social immaturity. He was diagnosed at age 4 as boderline autistic. He has no behavioral problems other than he likes to be alone and seems much younger than his age. He has difficulty with language comprehension. He is in 8th grade but his reading comprehension is 6th grade level. The school that he goes to now is very nurturing and accepting of him but does not challenge him at all academically. Changing schools will be very traumatic for him , since he has been at the same school since Kindergarten and it would be a very long drive, I live in Kendall. But I am willing to make the change if it will help him . It is a very big decision to make and if anyone has any information or can give me advice on this school or any other, I would greatly appreciate it.
