I was on 80mg for the first year and tapered the second. I have a list of

illness I got from this Autoimmune Disease ( Cronic Illness ) , like many

other here have.

I was hospitalized after the 2nd year with a Acute Stills attach with Renal

failure and was on life support and my family was told I would not make it

through the night but I came out of it after a week with diliases and a 2,000 mg

Pred shot.

Yes 2,000 . I was dieing . Long story . 5 day black out with amnesia and than

ICU.

This disease can kill in many way's. We just got to be tuff and hang in there .

I have heard of people going into remmision and great stories of recovery.

:)

I feel I've perhaps been one of the lucky ones.

I was very bad at onset, was in intensive care, white blood count up in the

45,000+ and went from about 11 stones to 7.5 in about a week. I'm from the UK

but was in Florida at the time and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with.

2 weeks in Manchester and they sorted me out and put me on high doses of

Aspirin.. didn't work so 40mg daily (never been higher) and was on them for

about 2 years weaning down before going into remission.

Then it came back and I was on 40mg for a couple of weeks before weaning down

again... lasted about 9 months, then back into remission. 2003 it came back and

has been with me ever since, but it's nowhere near as bad. 12.5mx MTX weekly,

Sulfasazaline and 4mg Pred per day and most days I'm symptom free. Alcohol can

cause flares and so can stress, where I can be pretty bad, but that's once maybe

twice a year.

Compared to some I think I've been fortunate in that it certainly seems to have

been 'hammered down'.

One downside is I have a weakening of the spine. The stage between normal and

Osteoporosis - no doubt due to the months I was on doses of 20-40mg.
