Guest guest
I have an EXTREME intolerance if I ever hear my neighbor's stereo. In fact, my heart pounds, I feel nauseous and feel like crying. About 10 years ago I had bad neighbors that played heavy metal music plus had a surround sound system with 4 speakers so heard their movies along with sounds effects -- drum rolling, brakes squealing, etc. They have since moved and I was gradually starting to get better and forget about it. However, now I find I have new neighbors and I am so afraid that the same thing will happen all over again. One evening at about 11:30 p.m. I was relaxing and watching TV and all of a sudden I heard the thump, thump, thump of their bass. I immediately knocked on their door and told them to turn down the music, which they did. But now I am afraid that I will hear it again and I know what my reaction will be. Yes, I have phonophobia, too. I would like to know if anyone out there suffers the same way that I do. It is hard to explain my reaction. It is pure terror. If I am away from my apartment and out in the street, for example, and hear bass I don't have the same reaction. It just happens when I am at home. It's probably from a lack of control or whatever. So, if anyone else out there has such an extreme reaction like me, I would like to hear from them. Thanks!! Terri
