Guest guest
I'm so glad I found this group and I now know I'm not alone. When I was younger I would always get irritated hearing my Mom chew. She opens her mouth a lot when she does. And she sucks food out of her teeth after she eats. I would make comments about it and she would just yell at me and say " your manners aren't perfect! " But what she didn't understand is that I wasn't upset because I thought she had bad manners, I was actually ANGRY about it. Then I met my husband. Oh boy. God love him, but he makes SO much noise when he eats. He doesn't open his mouth, but his jaw is so strong that it sloshes the food around when he chews. Oh it's horrible. My aunt is an open mouth chewer and my Mother in law is the same. It's awful. Strangely enough, my own chewing doesn't bother me. I'm a quiet chewer but you know how you can hear yourself like " internally " like through the inside of your ears? does that makes sense? That doesn't bother me, but anyone else, oh man I just go nuts! I have to leave the room. My little boy is 18 months and he makes some noise, but obviously he doesn't know any better so that doesn't bother me. Snoring also. My husband snores SO much and it drives me nuts. Not to mention, it keeps me awake! I have OCD also, very mild, and I don't know if it's related?
