,I like your design and the refrigerator magnet is a good idea.  I saw bandaid shaped ones once that were catchy.I've used iprint.com for stationery, envelopes, business cards, notepads.  I have some cute post-it notes that say, " A note from Milo the therapy dog....and Dr. Sharon " (at the bottom) with a cute sketch of a puppy.  People love those.   iprint.com has on-line coupons and codes and the quality was great.  I have gotten little first aid kits from 4imprint.com that are nice useful give-aways as well as nice imprinted folders from them.

When my practice became full, I dropped the yellow page ads.  That was about 2 years ago.  I feel like refrigerator magnets and business cards are enough for my patients and most take more than one of each to give to friends and family.   My web site is easy to find with a search on my name and city – that is if anyone searches that way.  I am listed in white pages.

Recently found a great price on refrigerator magnets and appointment reminder cards at businesscards24.com.  You design and view online and they ship them to you.  I should get first shipment in a few days and see what the quality is.  Cost was about ¼ of local printer for appointment reminder cards and about ½ cost for refrigerator magnets. 2000 appointment reminder cards and 1000 refrigerator magnets ran about $180 with shipping.

The attached document shows what my new appointment reminder card looks like.  The new refrigerator magnets are the same with printing on only one side of course.  You can get creative – it’s a bit addictive as you edit and think about how to best convey your message.  Finally, I just hit order - had to get back to seeing patients.  Wish they had #9 envelopes.  Perhaps they will add that if enough ask.

Are there better place to do it yourself online?.  Well, perhaps others will share what they have learned.

So I am reviewing our yellow pages advertising before the new book goes to print.  We spent nearly $2000 last year on yellow pages ads (internet + print).  We had 1 patient come to us from a YP print ad and 7 people from “internet” search, which does not necessarily mean YP.com.

I’m wondering if anyone has dropped their YP ad and had complaints from patients?  It seems like a waste of resources just to make it easier for patients to find us.  Seems like we’d be better off to spend those dollars on encouraging referrals from our existing patients (which constituted 42% of new patient’s method of finding us) and other physicians (which was 22%).  I feel like I’m pouring precious resources down the drain….
