Pam,

I've read many times that it's probably best to minimize the bars when you

are in fat

loss phase. They have more calories/fat and less " bang for the buck " than other

items you could choose. That said, when I have a bar (not every day) I have

settled on

the EAS AdvantEdge carb control ones--usually available at the supermarkets,

Walmart, etc. and frequently on sale for as cheap as $1.25 or so per bar. The

Chocolate Chip Brownie one tastes seriously good--210 cal, 25 g protein, 3 g of

impact carbs, 6 g fat. They aren't huge, a very eatable size and they do fill

you up.

When possible, for a quickie meal fix I like the EAS AdvantEdge Carb control

RTD's,

again available in supermarkets etc (not at GNC, though). These are 110 cal

for 11

oz, 15 g protein, 5 g carbs, 4 g fat. I love the Rich Dark Chocolate one, the

Chocolate

Fudge is good, also Strawberry Banana, vanilla is OK too. I'm going for the

lower carb

stuff where I can--helps chip away at the fat. In any case, watch out for the

bars. I

have read of people overdoing it with them and it can slow your efforts.

Hi Pam,

Great progress so far!!! I agree that the smaller bar is probably

best, but if you have the larger ones, just cut it in two and eat

half for a meal. That's what I do, just keep the other half in

ziploc baggie and it's ready for another meal whenever.

I also agree that bars are not necessarily the best choice as far as

nutritional quality, mainly since you are trying to reach such a low

BF%. But, that said... it sounds like you are in a time crunch with

work, and eating *something* is better than skipping a meal! So if

it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)
