Hi. I am new to this list and to making skin care products. My name is

Teresea Carson and live in Vancouver, Washington. I am first and foremost the

mother of four young children (ages 6, 5, 3, 2). I am also a Licensed Massage

Practitioner and I adore making skin care products. I've been researching the

preservative issue and have a couple of questions in this regard. Please

excuse me if this has already been discussed and on file somewhere. I haven't

been

able to find anything on this. Being that synthetic preservatives (and other

ingredients) are toxic or have other adverse effects:

1. Do the harmful chemicals in synthetic preservatives (and other

ingredients) penetrate the skin and thus enter the bloodstream, or do they

remain on the

surface of the skin, or both?

2. If they penetrate the skin, are these chemicals eliminated by the body on

a daily basis or do they accumulate in the body, or both? My concern is that

with long term use on a daily basis that the toxic chemicals may accumulate

in the body, or even on the surface of the skin. Is there a concern here or

not?

3. FO's - synthetic, natural or both?

Your time in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Teresea Carson, LMP

Vancouver, WA

> I can only comment on this one: all FO's are synthetic.

AFAIK,

Fragrance oils can be all synthetic.

Fragrance oils can be all natural.

Fragrance oils can be a blend of natural and synthetic.
