Hi Lynn,

Rose Hip Seed Oil has a rich, nutty smell (in my opinion ;) I think it's a

very pleasant smell. It does not have a long shelf life on its own--the mixed

tocopherols or other antioxidant will help prolong the shelflife. If your oil

has started to go rancid, there's no turning back--sorry! To me, rancid is a

smell that is distinctively unpleasant. Sometimes you can taste a bit of the

oil and it has a " bite " to it, rather than a smooth taste---hard to describe

smell and taste in words!

should keep it in the

fridge since it is so expensive but I don't

FWIW, I have some that has been around about a year, now, I put a little

VitE in when I got it. I keep most of it in the fridge, and put the rest of

the jug outside as soon as it began to get cool- October- and they smell a

little- the one in the jug more than the one in the fridge, naturally, but

they are both usable. Here in the Pacific Northwest near the coast, we don't

have much hot weather, so rancidity doesn't seem to be too much of a

problem. Last year DH gave me a small bar refrigerator, and all of the

touchy stuff goes in. I would think in a hot climate one of those babies

would pay for itself in one summer.

Now for a small, " dedicated " dishwasher!!!! Ahhh! the thoughts of a

daydreamer...
