Guest guest
I was reading a thread on motivation on another message board. One gal wrote the following which really struck me. I'm printing it out and posting it in several different places in my house. Here it is...People expect there to be some magical thing called motivation that shows up at their doorstep and suddenly they are unstoppable. However, think about how life really works. Motivation follows action. You build up momentum by taking a few steps, even if you don't want to. When you start seeing yourself getting closer to your goals, you won't want to stop. It's hard to take those first steps with "motivation," but they will be what motivate you in the long run. This is SO true in my life... say I don't want to clean the house. If I start just by saying, Okay, I'm going to sweep the floor, once that gets done, I feel really good about it and decide to go ahead and mop. Or if I don't want to go grocery shopping, I decide I'll make a quick trip out, and once I'm out, I get ALL my errands done. That kind of thing.
