Interesting that the tentative list offers " medication " but not

" biomedical " .

This was received by the ASA Communications Dept. We thought

perhaps some of our families may want to share stories with this

writer for her book scheduled to be published this year.

I am working on a book consisting of first-person stories from

parents of children with learning & /or behavioral problems including

ADHD, ADD, PDD, depression, panic attacks, autism or any other

emotional/developmental/behavioral or learning-related problems.

The author of the book, Brodey, is a health writer and mother

of a child with ADHD. The book, titled tentatively " The Elephant in

the Playroom " will be published in the spring of 2006 by Hudson

Street Press, a division of the Penguin Group, an international

publishing company.

We're looking specifically for stories about something parents went

through or something you/they have learned that they want other moms

and dads to know about, such as how they dealt with

school?

other kids?

medication?

experiences with doctors?

what happened to your marriage trying to deal with your child?

relationships with other relatives/siblings?

The more specific and detailed you can be, the more detail you can

provide, the better, and the more help it will be to other parents.

Names don't have to be used - other than first names, or identifiers

of relationship, such as mother, aunt, teacher etc.

Please contact me with some details about your situation if you are

interested or you know someone who might be interested in

contributing.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

a Rex, Writer/Researcher

The Elephant in the Playroom
