Hi Mish,

Please be careful paxil withdrawal can hit hard in 3 to 5 days of having none.Don't throw your pills out because you maybe looking for them within a few days. To many people make that mistake.I hope you are one of the lucky ones.

So far I am fine i was on 40mg, dropped down to 30mg last Thursday and now last night i dropped to 20mg. she told me to drop down to 10mg in 2 days, then in 2 days quit, but i may do it a little slower then what the doctor thinks.

This is the most dangerous and irresponsible advice I have ever heard. This doctor has no business prescribing a drug he/she knows so little about. No wonder so many people are messed up if this is the kind of advice they're given. Perhaps you'll be lucky and won't suffer really badly, but very few people could get off paxil in this manner and not go through something hideous as a result.

Hi Mish,

I think some of the frustration you're hearing from group members is

about your choice to do a fast taper, when so many of us have found

out the hard way that a slow taper is best. This group shares

knowledge that was gained from hard experience, and has

worked with hundreds if not thousands of people coming off these

drugs, so she has a good sense of the issue.

It's also frustrating when someone refuses to follow this hard-earned

advice, then comes back in a panic wanting help with the terrible mess

withdrawal has left them in!

That said, I wish you well with your plan. You may be one of the

lucky ones who can withdraw rapidly without a lot of problems. I do

encourage you to drop those last 20 mg more slowly. Are you on any

other drugs besides the Paxil?

I got really messed up from dropping zyprexa in just this fashion,

taking my therapist's advice on how to taper. Big mistake, but the

withdrawals didn't kick in for another 2 weeks after I had gotten

off the drug, and I had to get a tetanus shot the same day the

withdrawals started. So when I got really sick, I blamed it on the

shot, but now I know better.

Great to have you back Glitter. Hope you had a nice break

Thanks , but it was hardly a break. All I did was do stuff related to the house and I came home exhausted and with food poisoning to boot! I'm just now getting rested up! LOL
