Guest guest
I had the pericarditis, too, but it was so much fluid around the heart they had to remove it, then treat with meds. This is nothing to mess with. Mine got really bad before i went to the doc, by then I had 380 cc's fluid smothering my heart. Please call the the heart doc back and tell them about the cost of the meds so they can get someone on your case to find a foundation or something to pay for it. Do not let this go. Trust me, I know. I was in the Cardiac Care Unit for 4 days with a tube in my chest. Call the heart doc!!! And please keep us posted, we are here for you!  gail in KY ________________________________ To: Stillsdisease Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 6:55 PM Subject: pericarditis  I have been posting in the Facebook page, but I do not want my family to read everything. was diagnosed with pericarditis last month. Guest guest
What Gail says is true! My pericarditis was mild. They treated me with steroids and kept me on a heart monitor. I had already had an echo. However, I know someone who had an incident very much like the one Gail describes. She almost died! DO NOT let this go...pericarditis can be VERY serious...quickly. if the doc prescribed meds, there is a reason...get help! Explain the situation! Guest guest
I had pericarditis and a lung half full of fluid when Still's first knocked me, almost 12 months ago. I am still on steroids and regularly get the chest pains and heart racing. Am currently down to 7mg. Are the steroids supposed to stop pericarditis or simply take away the pain (remove symptoms), and how long is okay to have this condition? I know stress makes things worse, but it is natural to be very concerned when it is your heart. I also am VERY grateful for this website, I don't like discussing my condition with my family, it is normal to reassure them I'm fine when I'm jolly well not. Thank you for being about. > What Gail says is true! My pericarditis was mild. They treated me with steroids and kept me on a heart monitor. I had already had an echo. Guest guest
Everyone is different. The pain and different involvements are different per each person. Looking back, I had Stills a couple years before my diagnosis, probably, but just the joint involvement, & my doc couldn't figure it out. Then about 3 years ago, it hit with a vengence. Every internal organ was involved, all my joints were involved, the fevers, therash, the sore throat, the pericarditis, you name it. Every symptom was there and very pronounced. I could not walk, could not breath, organs began to shut down. It was awful! I was put on IV antiinflammatories, IV steroids, monitors, you name it. I responded pretty well, my lungs took the longest to get over the worst pain...literally over two years of sharp intense pain. There was damage causedby the inflammation. Lots of monitoring by chest xrays and it took forever to come down from the sterroids. It has to be gradual and your doctor monitors you on a case by case basis. No two patients are the same there, either. Steroids work, but can't be used forever, as they cause problems as well. Guest guest
7 yrs ago , I had a pericardi window, they could not take the fluid off fast enough an other way. yeah it messed up my lungs too,my whole body inside and out swelled every organ...knocked on deaths door... The cardiologist knew nothing of Stills and was more interested in new software he and his scribe were playing with. I did have the echo done. So I will call my family doctor and see what she says, i am sure she will say see the cardiologist....doctor rulette...tired of them? If get worse sure will go to ER. > > I have been posting in the Facebook page, but I do not want my family to read everything. was diagnosed with pericarditis last month.
