I am 57, and the number and severity of trigger sounds have definitely gotten worse over time!Sent from my iPad

I'm 50 and it has gotten worse over the years, as well. If age is an indicator of decreased hearing ability, I think those of us with super-sonic hearing may never experience it or will have to wait until we're in our 90s for it to happen.

Plus in my case I had about huge gap of only on person who made only 2 trigger sounds effect starting at 8, then a huge jump to 25 when gum cracking and pen clicking from others started to bother me. Each year after that more and more trigger sounds were added to the list.

How does one explain that?

I think my 4s is getting worse with age because my attention span is getting worse. Might have something to do with my brain being bathed in stress chemicals so much. Maybe early effective treatment would prevent a worsening of 4s with age?To: "Soundsensitivity " <Soundsensitivity >Sent: Sat, February 5, 2011 4:16:59 PMSubject: Re: Re: Better with age? Or worse?

I am a 57 year old female and have had this since I was about 11. It has gotten worse with time. I'm sure I have some hearing loss due to age but I never miss a gum pop, ball bouncing, the ping of a baseball on an aluminum bat and the earth-shaking bass of rap "music" within the hearing capability of any animal at any age. This has been a major disability for basically my entire life.

I am hoping that as I get older and more forgetful, that I will forget that I have 4S:-)

My mother, who is 91 and has had it since childhood does not seem to be as bothered as she was when she was younger.

What I find really difficult is the fact that my family will not take my irritation seriously!! When I told hubby not to rattle the newspaper the other day because it really winds me up, he told me, "Everything winds you up!!". He doesnt know the half of it. Things have got much worse for me over the years. Even my daughter drinking gets me down when I can hear that gulping sound. I could not bear it and had to go and watch TV upstairs to avoid the sound of her drinking!!

We are hard to live with I admit. I think I would be put out too if I had to live with me. Gulping drives me crazy too. Is your family aware of 4S or just think you are fussy?

They think I am just being fussy. I wouldn't mind but hubby won't even consider that 4s could be a genuine condition. Yet it drives me crazy. Print it out and stick it in front of his noisy newspaper!

My mother drove my father kind of crazy with her complaining about his noises, but he still adored her and tried to be understanding and never got angry about it.

Good luck with it. He does need to understand the severity of it.

Thanks for that idea . The 4s is so bad that I can't even bear to listen to my mum drinking on the phone! I only see her about once every two months and when I am with her I am putting my fingers in my ears to stop the noise! I wouldn't mind but she is 80 years old and we lost my dad last summer! They were married all but 60 years!! Even with this in mind, I cannot bear to hear her drinking!!!!! I'm so sorry that you have to suffer with this so badly. I can truly empathize with you. Have you tried some of the earplugs that allow you to hear human voices but block out some other sounds? Just know that you are not alone in this which helps a little.

I'm 50 and it has gotten worse over the years, as well. If age is an indicator of decreased hearing ability, I think those of us with super-sonic hearing may never experience it or will have to wait until we're in our 90s for it to happen.Plus in my case I had about huge gap of only on person who made only 2 trigger sounds effect starting at 8, then a huge jump to 25 when gum cracking and pen clicking from others started to bother me. Each year after that more and more trigger sounds were added to the list. How does one explain that?> >> . . . > > I do not know if this unit will have a positive effect on you with the 4S. Thanks , I am glad you understand. The whole thing is a nightmare isn't it. How come I have been married so long with this, I don't know. Hubby drives me mental coughing and burping etc. Truly, if I had had the money to do so, I would have run away years ago. I am on pins all the time dreading his noises. The ear plugs you mention - do you have a name for them? Are you in the UK? How long have you suffered with this? I have suffered as long as I can remember, since I was in my early teens I think. Thanks again.Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless deviceSender: Soundsensitivity Date: Sun, 6 Feb 2011 14:05:30 -0800 (PST)To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: Re: Better with age?
