Guest guest
Quantell was hospitalized last Thursday. He's stable now but still seriously ill and expected to remain several more days. I've been living there, and just dashed home after the day's last blood draw to bring in the mail and newspapers -- and get a shower and clean clothes. They're treating him for cholangitis, but because he has a VERY complicated medical history apart from the PSC, (and because all of the hepatologists were at some conference in Denver and just returned today) they're still doing rule-outs as well. IBD is a leading contender in the differential diagnoses. They're doing an MRCP tomorrow morning (on a brand new machine being installed this week) and anticipate following it up with an ERCP to dilate the ducts. Just wanted to take a minute to express my thanks for everyone who's shared their cholangitis tales and repeat the warnings I've read often on this list -- DO NOT IGNORE HIGH FEVERS AND ABDOMINAL PAIN. I waited until the second day. Next time I won't. This is serious stuff.
