Guest guest
(aka mypinkbow), First of all I don't buy into the DSM diagnoses. He may match those "behavioral symptoms", however my knowledge about bi-polar disorders is that "psychiatrists" usually don't determine this until a person is in their early 20's after all the growth stages have occurred, especially teenager hormonal years. But psychiatrists still don't test for the things that "cause" these behaviors ... like an orthomolecular doctor would. I'd like to know: 1. Was he on any drugs before being hospitalized? What drugs and dosages? 2. Why was he hospitalized? 3. Did he exhibit the so-called bi-polar behaviors before or after the drugs? What drugs, and what dosages? 4. What drugs was he given while hospitalized? 5. Were there any changes in his drugs while hospitalized, ie., did they abruptly change from one drug to another drug? Which ones, and what dosages? 6. What caused him to be hospitalized? 7. Has he ever been tested for food allergies, metal toxicity, vitamin-mineral-enzyme deficiencies? Any one or all of these things could cause him to exhibit behaviors that the DSM labels as bi-polar. I'd never put a child on those drugs, not to mention the dosage amounts he is on. They do NOT cure him, they only mask symptoms and are intended to make him a compliant zombie ... all while the real issues of why he is behaving like he does, is NOT being addressed. There's a bottom line reason why he is acting like he did and still does ... that's what needs to get addressed!!! A DSM diagnoses only identifies behaviors ... and the drugs that match those behaviors still don't address the CAUSE, nor will they heal him. These are mind-altering drugs and wreck havoc with other organ systems in the body, at the cellular level. 's suggestion of Omega 3's is definitely a good one. Has she consulted with you about liquid vitamin-mineral supplementation? Please respond to above questions. will need this information in order to help you help him heal, AND help him with withdrawal symptoms as you taper him off these poisons. Just me...... Jan ====================== My soon to be step son was diangosed with early onset bipolar when hewas 4-5 years old and has been hospitalized 2 times. Currently, isdoing much better than he has done in the past but is taking a lot ofmedication. He is 10 years old and is at the end of his 4th grade year.Does this seem like pretty high dosages of these meds even for an adult? This is his RX's he takes daily:450 mg of Trileptal in the morning450 mg of Trileptal at noon 600 mg of Trileptal in the evening5mg of Risperdal in the morning 5 mg of Risperdal at noon10 mg of Risperal at nightDuring the past month he has added:He also is taking the Liquid Vit for Children 2 times a dayrecommended by And 12-13 grams per day of Carlson's Liquid Fish Oils per He reports being less frustrated and calmer since adding the fishoils.........at this dosage.......he had been taking Country Life Fishoils in soft gel form at 2-3 grams per day.We are going to go for a follow up appt with his new psychiatrist thismonth to talk about lowering the dosages of his meds. For those adults who have taken either of these drugs is this kiddo onextremely high dosages of both? And how was your taper? What shouldwe expect here? Or if you have a child who has taken either of thesewhat was their withdrawal experience.Another friend of mine's son was on Risperdal and she reported it tooka year to taper off completely and her son who is 13 years old thinksrisperdal is poison and has a panic attack (not litterally) if he evenhears the word Risperdal............he hated it!!!!!!!!!
