Guest guest
Just thought I'd drop a line to the list. I'm tired but I've had nearly a week of computer withdrawl and have to get my *fix*. I went to the hospital last Monday (19) for a ventriculostomy to check ICP. Well, it seems the pressure wasn't high. What my doctor figures is going on is a flow problem. Not long after they put the shunt in for the ventriculostomy and started draining fluid, my nearly constant occipital headaches were gone. Yeah! The problem in deciding was that my ICP pressure wasn't all that high. When I would turn my head or move certain ways, it would go up. The dr. felt that I have a flow problem more so than pressure. Guess that might make sense if the fluid isn't making it out of the occiput too well. Any way... Thursday I went back to surgery and had the VP shunt put in. The headaches are still gone. I'm pretty tired and not sure about the dizziness and some of the other symptoms cause I'm still trying to get my strength back. The Dr. said it might take several months of adjusting the pressure levels to see which one helps me function the best. On another note, I was very impressed with this hospital and the staff. the neuro ward was really nice. I wouldn't think twice about going back there if I would need to. Worn out, gotta go.
