It certainly be used as a natural preservative. By itself, I don't think Propolis will be an effective preservative. I have tried lotions and they are very good. Propolis is a natural resin that comes from trees. It is collected by honey bees who remetabolise it and coat the inner wall of their hives. It is then extracted by beekeepers. It contains flavanoids, vitamins and minerals and organic acids. It also has antioxidant and anaesthetic properties. I have a whole bunch of literature on it.
