My liver dr in Omaha just found out about the abnormal CT findings and under no certain terms does he want the ultra sound done here in Des Moines for several reasons. First, they do more ultra sounds there of tx patients, second, their ultra sonographers are used to reading ultra sounds of tx patients and know what is ok and what isn't, third, he doesn't want someone here in DM to pass off on something thinking it is ok or get alarmed at something that isn't and last, they have my other ultra sounds there to compare with. So, back to Omaha next week (I was just there the 19th) for an ultra sound and then an appt w/my liver dr to go over both the CT and ultra sound that afternoon. I told Steve he probably should take time off from work for this one. Memory is still not my strongest asset, so if I said this earlier, pls forgive--they have said fluids, abscesses, neoplasm (tumor) are all possibilities. When I saw the oncologist, she said they believe it's pelvic cysts, but they want to be sure. From what was actually read to me over the phone on Friday, they didn't say that--they weren't that hopeful or specific. They called it a mass in the pelvic region - cystic-appearing lesions.... They did find fluid around the spleen...

I'm going to ask for a different oncologist also when I see my liver dr. Had I known on Tues. what I know now from the CT, I would not have left Omaha--I would have stayed & had the ultra sound the next day and saved myself (and now Steve) a trip, plus a week of worrying. I need an oncologist who will take the time to listen to the report. She (oncologist) made the comment, "it's a 7 minute report and once it got past the my area, I didn't really listen...." Then what was the point in having the CT--they're supposed to be looking to see if new cancer has popped up. If she can't take time to listen to a 7 minute report (it wasn't typed up yet),then I need someone who will. Should be an interesting appt., huh? Oh well....

THANK YOU for all the supportive responses and well wishes I have received--Peg, for the computer hug, etc.; Barb for your helpful thoughts; for the meditate suggestions & prayers; for hte bear hugs, for your msg; Penny for your cute e-card; Lynn, for your concern -- -- THANK YOU ALL!! I can't tell you how much you have all helped.

love & prayers,

Laurie
