I rec'd this letter:

I found out 3 days ago that I have S4. I thought I was intolerant to noises

(mouth, smacking, chewing, typing and silverware on the plate)and I was actually

very relieved to find out that its a syndrome. I have it since I can remember,

and it has always been a problem. I used to fight with my brother on the table,

I can't stand anyone chewing gum, dogs and cats licking themselves, sniffling is

a big problem too! 2 and 1/2 years ago I lost my hearing on the right ear,

profound deafness. I know use a baha implant, and life is absolutely normal. I

am adding this piece of information because since there is no explanation for my

hearing loss, there may be some relationship here that hasn't

been pointed out yet.

I am a highly functional and independent 47 years old female and have had this

since I was very young. I have also ADD that was finally diagnosed 2 years ago.

I am taking Ritalin and my life changed completely.

-----Makes me wonder, is 4S possibly related to some confusion in the neural

impulses based on two-ears? Could the vibratory stimulation of the skull using

the BAHA have had a positive effect?

Or does the ritalin become the clue to improvement here?

Simple idea: plug up one of your ears in the mose annoying settings with the

most triggers, and do this for a week, then come back here and report your own

personal findings from that harmless experiment.
