Guest guest
, I'm so glad that the donors are working out. It is so good to have that option. I hope that you can get a cadaver liver but since you would have to get much sicker to get it I have mixed feelings. It is special to have such friends. Guest guest
Thanks so much, Gracie, and good luck with the living donor option. I hope Ed can be open minded about the possibility of it. Keep in touch, and let me know what you find out as you go through this process. Dr. Lee called me on Monday. She missed the meeting because she had to do procedures at the endoscopy suite. She thought it was a good idea that I had both options to consider (cadavorous & living donor). Meanwhile, I get blood tests next week and go in for an ERCP on 12/8. That's my next NEMC visit. Are you planning to go to the pre-tx support group meeting in Dec.? If so, maybe I can see you there. krooner1@... wrote: > Hi ! > > We have spoken with Dr. Freeman also, and, in January we'll meet with > him to talk about considering me as a donor for Ed. Guest guest
Gracie, Check with DiNapoli. He's the MSW on the transplant team. The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. If you and Ed are meeting with Dr. Freeman, I'm sure will invite you to this meeting. Guest guest
Hi ! I am always so delighted when someone else is behind in email. I haven't logged on in a couple weeks (my, how time flies!) and I can't get my email program (Outlook Express) to retrieve mail from my server. I called the server to see if they could fix the problem and they said that it might be because I have over 2600 emails sitting on the server! So, I may end up having to ask the server to dump all of them just to see if my mail program will work. So I'm diligently trying to weed through the last two weeks of mail that I haven't read yet and then I'll do the dump and start all over. Apologies to anybody who doesn't hear from me when they expected to. I tend to talk in circles anyway so I suppose it will all come out in the end. Anyway, it sounds like you are moving forward one step at a time and feeling pretty good about it. I have to commend you on your positive attitude. I am going through such a depression lately, and I'm not even sick. I have some questions about the whole living donor transplant thing. On the insurance end of things, does insurance always or ever pay for all the testing and qualifying of the donor? Is it the recipient's insurance that has to cover or the donor's? And last but not least, - this is a wild one - theoretically, if I want to donate part of my liver now, will it regenerate to the point that I can donate part of it again in ten to 15 years? If my health is good and I qualify as a donor, is my recovery relatively short and sweet? Don't answer me for a few days yet. I want to make sure I get my email retrieving sorted out and working before you reply. Otherwise I may not get it and I'll wind up repeating myself! Now of course, I'm not the one suffering through all the symptoms and complications, but February doesn't sound so far off. Can you almost feel excited about the up coming event??? I can't imagine what you are thinking...nervous? scared? excited? relieved? Oh, I just want so much for everything to fall into place for you. It's so uplifting to hear from you and see how at peace you seem with the whole thing. What about if you don't do a live donor tx - can the doctors give you any kind of idea at all how soon you might be able to receive a tx? I know it depends on a lot of stuff, but do they get a general notion for the timing of things in their hospital area? Is there such a thing a an average waiting time or is it just way too dependent on individual circumstances? I see Biddy has found it necessary to leave the list. Is anybody keeping in touch with her or her husband? I hope we won't lose contact with her. My candles are lit and I'm praying for her and for you and for everyone here. Take care, .
