Guest guest
Hi.. I am a huge fan of VSL3 (I think we were the first to try it for oxalate issues when Owens brought it to our attention) BUT it is not guaranteed casein free (like some others like Culturelle which many use but wanted to be sure that was clear). It has been incredible for my son but it was NOT created for ASD children and thus has additives in it that some do not tolerate. That said, other than Primal Defense in HUGE doses, it is the best thing that ever happened to my gut kid-along with the low oxalate diet that is. As with all things I'd just go low and slow.. at higher doses it can trigger diarrhea in some folks. It is VERY potent.. 450,000 vs 25,000 for instance with I think Klaire's Ther Biotic Complete (high quality product also). It takes a TINY amt in most cases.. my son whose gut is almost healed I hope takes 1/4 t BID now and more than that creates diarrhea... less creates diarrhea.. it's a matter of finding the right dose but it will likely be a very low dose for our kids. Best of luck! > > > > Hello, > > My 26 month old son (dx'd HF ASD at 24 mos) has had chronic acute > > gastroenteritis since he was about 6 months old. Guest guest
Doesn't Gaviscon have aluminum? You might want to check. Guest guest
that's what I thought-VSL3 is 450 billion. > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > My 26 month old son (dx'd HF ASD at 24 mos) has had chronic > > acute > > > > gastroenteritis since he was about 6 months old. That really is a big difference - 18 times as potent. I guess that's the answer to my question - I wouldn't want to be giving him 18 therbiotic capsules a day! We'd have to take out a second mortgage to afford it anyway. ;-) Darla

Guest guest
Darla.. BID is twice a day. My son's gut healed with gf/cf/sf/cf/ and then Low Oxalate Diet.. we now ahve added back in small amts of gluten and casein. VSL3 btw was not developed for use with our population and it is not necessarily casein free. All the best, > > > In a message dated 29/07/2006 16:59:05 GMT Standard Time, > adoptinggrace@... writes: > > It takes a TINY amt in most cases.. my son > whose gut is almost healed I hope takes 1/4 t BID now and more than > that creates diarrhea... less creates diarrhea.. it's a matter of > finding the right dose but it will likely be a very low dose for our > kids. > Best of luck! > > > > thanks, adoptinggrace, for the info.
