Hi , you have some good questions that I hope by now have been

answered. I am so far behind that I always seem to answer long after the fact.

Yes, my husband did have an unusual spell. It is a sensitive topic, and I

don't quite know how to put it. He has been impotent for years in his normal

state, because of all the heart medicine. But, when I brought him home he came

to me almost wanting to rape me. He had a wild look in his eyes, and couldn't

get me to bed fast enough. He was not there mentally at all. He was almost

someone else. He was physically too weak to continue trying to carry out the

deed, but I haven't seen him that way in years. Yes, he most assuredly did

have a spell that was VERY unusual.

My husband changes his clothes all day long. The DON said it gives him

something to do. He has taken to tearing up paper a lot, which seem to be a

late

happening. I have heard of others doing it early on in their disease process.

Are more people around on the weekends? Even your husband, or is he there

all the time? How about visitors? Anything at all that changes their routine

will make things worse. Not being there I certainly can't tell you why the

weekend. I can only make a suggestion.

I have a lot more mail, and I am getting tired, But, dear keep on with

your questions. I am eager to read the mail and see what others that have a

lot more knowledge than me have told you.

Love a lot, and let your face be bright with a smile,

Imogene

Thank you, Imogene, I'm beginning to feel more comfortable and

willing to jump in. I appreciate the generosity of all of you. I'm

wondering if anyone else's LO's have physical abilities during one of

their bad spells that they don't have when they're more lucid? My

MIL, when she's hallucinating and not sleeping, can climb out of bed

and change her clothes and wander around the house doing all sorts of

things. When she's lucid, she can barely walk and can perform no self-

care functions. She can't even brush her own teeth, but during one of

her episodes, she was making coffee and sandwiches for the men her

mind saw working outside her house. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, hubby and I have noticed that her bad spells seem to happen

more on the weekends. I don't know why it would happen that way, as

one day is just like another for her, and a Saturday is the same as a

Tuesday. Is it just coincidence? We can't find any reason for it, but

it mystifies us just the same.

Imogene, I'm glad you're standing up for yourself with that horrid

nurse! She should be in a different line of work, preferably one that

does not have her interacting with humans! I don't care what kind of

a day she was having or what her experience is with other patients

and families, what she said was insensitive and outrageous. I don't

know why she chose to work with older, sick people if she has no

respect for them or their devoted families. I still fume when I think

about it.

I thought the paper tearing was a " Mom " thing. Wow! She did that for a

good six months after she came to live with me. We'd find pieces of paper

towels in shoes, dresser drawers, the freezer, everywhere. Wow! Weird! I

wonder what makes them do that. I even found some in her slippers after she

died.

One day, we walked in and found her tearing napkins into two little piles.

She was so happy. We asked why she was so happy and she was " fixing a snack

for her mother " who had died in 1960.
