Guest guest
I'm doing a short term locum for a colleague who has gone off work on stress leave. It's been nearly two decades since I've worked in the public hospital system, and what strikes me especially is the number of patients who have BMIs over 35, including staff! I don't think I have anyone in my private practice with such high BMIs .. or maybe they don't come back after I see them the first time! ( my BMI runs about 22 - 24 )Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any evidence on the use of fasting one day a week to assist weight loss and improve insulin sensitivity. Clearly diets that modify amounts eaten, or type of foods are not particularly successful .. so I wonder whether a clear cut no food on one day a week directive ? Sunday would be better. -- Graham Chiu http://www.compkarori.co.nz:8090/Synapse - the use from anywhere EMR.
