Hi,

Does anyone have any experience on using gaba over taurine?

I have been using Taurine (Kirkman's) since the summer (3 caps.) and he is

still hyper, still antsy, always moving. His dad was the same way as a kid.

A friend of mine just gave me an un-opened bottle of gaba (Nutraceutical

science institute) 1000mg

Does that seem like a high dosage to give a child (6)?

I would start off with a 1/2 cap. Do I work my way up to teh full dosage?

I noticed that Kirkman's gaba has INOSITOL in theirs. Is there a big

difference between teh two different brands?

Is there a difference in the gaba versus the taurine?

TIA

Judy

1000 mg is too high to start most likely for a child. I'd start at

250 and work up.. it is a matter of finding the right dosage for

each child. Some are good with 250 or less and others take 500-1000

mg daily in split doses. Inositol can also be calming for some. It

was for my son for short period and then had no response. Most seem

to respond to GABA but it was not at all effective for my son and in

fact caused him to be aggressive and just plain nasty! He is

recovered but it still affects him that way. Many have luck with IP6

so you might look into it.. it is a more bioavailable form of

Inositol and it works best for my son.

I have recently tried nasal oxytocin and am having a very good and

lasting (so far!) effect with it. It is prescription.

Best,

I have no idea or at least one I can explain off the cuff! I did

research it and if you will look on Amazon or even Ebay Books you

can find a whole short and WONDERFUL book on it... just put IP6 in

and it will pull it up. It was only about 1 buck plus shipping and

SO worth it. In fact after reading it, we are all taking it. It is

best known for cancer but has been used for oxalates/kidney stones,

psychiatric disorders/bipolar and calming among other things.

I just did froggle search and bought online. One brand I like is

Pure Encapsulations and we also got Jarrow brand too.

Best of luck!
