My Welch Allyn BP stuff has lasted 14 years. I've sent the gauges in for callibration a time or two.

Hi All, I'm looking for a new BP kit...any advice on brands/where to buy, etc. I have a small space so either wall mount or desk would be better. The price range seems to be so vast that I wasn't sure if they could all be of similar quality. Thanks. Madhavi

Don’t know the answer to the calibration

question other than the fact that the research studies that we participate in

require annual calibration.

I just bought new portable cuffs with gauges for 17 dollars each - peds

and adult.

How do you know when the gauges needs recalibration?

The handheld Welch Allyn units without a mercury column have marks on the gauge around the zero mark where the indicator needle is supposed rest before you apply pressure to the cuff. If the needle comes to rest outside of the range, then it needs sent in for service. On a cheaper model, I have no idea if you're getting accurate results.
