Guest guest
Hi , I keep hearing about lighting candles when someone on our list is going through the tough stuff. Pardon my ignorance here, but is this just your way of remembering those needing our best wishes? Or are you doing it with biblical significance attached? I love candles and probably own more of them than anybody I know. I usually offer prayers and then stutter my way through my own version of a prayer for someone, but have never connected my prayer with the lighting of a candle. Lighting a candle in someone's " honor " seems like a great way to transcend my hopes and prayers. Re: don't ignore fever and pain > Pam, > I wish Quantell the best. Guest guest
Hi, , There is no biblical significance to the candles...I do, however, think that the symbolism of lighting a candle for someone is universal. It helps me remember people who need extra care each time I pass the candle. I have candles at work and at home, and I just love them. I get the big jars (like Yankee candles here in New England), so there's not as much chance of a fire hazard, and keep them lit during the day when I am at home or at work. My friends have lit candles for me, and I have found peace in that. I think you're right about the prayers...I can keep more focused when I light the candles. Sometimes, I know I can't do much for those who are going through tough times, but it really feels good to send a prayer and healing energy by lighting the candle...just to let them know I care. Hmmm...Maybe we can start a candle vigil... Just a thought.. " Fraser & Co. " wrote: > Hi , > > I keep hearing about lighting candles when someone on our list is going > through the tough stuff. Guest guest
, You won't have to twist my arm to get me to " light up " ! I, also, light candles every day. I have a ton of Yankee's too. I feel most comfortable with them since I have three young children in the house, but I must admit I have a lot of other ones too. Coffee flavored, Sandalwood, Spiced Apple. Pumpkin Spice,...hmmm...it would be hard to pick a favorite. Oh yes, and Lilac for spring and summer. I light 4 or five in a room just because it soothes and relaxes me. I think I'll light an extra one right now for Walter Payton and his family and one more for everyone here on this List. I am very saddened by Walter's death. I just never imagined that he wouldn't make it. I understand that he developed cancer of the bile ducts. This is a taste of reality I never wanted to see. I feel so compelled to just keep praying for him and his family. It's the only way I know to ease the scariness of PSC from my mind right now. Guest guest
, Aaah, another candle person! What a delight. The Yankee's are great, aren't they? Now there's two of us who can send that energy around. It is a soothing experience, isn't it? I also knit while I'm burning the candles at home. Because I've had so many procedures at New England Med, I've taken to knitting small, portable projects, such as socks and afghan squares. Socks are my passion right now. Recently, when I've been knitting in the waiting room before going into the endoscopy suite to prepare for the ERCP's, I've noticed that I feel calmer than when I just sit and read. I'm a hard one to get an IV going, so I often have to endure a lot of sticks. In September, when the nurse stuck me three times, she noticed that my blood pressure hadn't gone up. It was still 99/70....I attribute that to the knitting. Candles and knitting....They make a difference for me. Take care....I'm going off to light candles soon. Guest guest
Add me to the list of Candle Lovers. I light them every night and find them quite relaxing. I try not to miss the Yankee candle of the month special. Michele

Guest guest
I was walking through a mall here in ohio today, and seen a Yankee Candle store. I guess they're just everywhere. Love,

Guest guest
Just to let all you candle lovers know, I travel once or twice a year from Ontario to go shopping in Buffalo and always make Yankee candle my first stop. I love their scents; pumpkin and Macintosh apple are my favourites. Debbie Re: Candle Curiosity >I was walking through a mall here in ohio today, and seen a Yankee Candle >store.
