Guest guest
The scab that forms is part of the healing process - it is protecting the damaged skin that is reforming underneath and it is formed by a discharge from the area where the sore was. This discharge often appears during the night - I understand why this is but am not able to explain it!! Also, I think the dilution is rather strong, I've found it difficult to do a percentage of drops to oz but would not use the oils in this instance at more than 2 - 3%, so it is possible that the oils are 'burning' off the scab and also burning the newly forming skin underneath. I'd be interested in other people's comments Regards Ann - Scotland I made a 1/4 oz soft balm of the following: 10 drops Tea Tree 10 drops Lavender 2 drops Patchouli 5 drops Ravensara Aromaticum Added all the above to a base of pre-melted Emu Oil and kokum butter (at a 1:1 ratio)
Guest guest
15 drops of e.o. to 1 oz is approximately 2.5 percent if that helps anyone in determining the ratio. Guest guest
Hi Maurice, This is how I do my calcs for e.o. to per oz of carrier. 1 oz = approx 30 ml 2.5%= .75 ml ..78125 ml = 15.625 drops drop determination is based on approximately 100 drops within a 5 ml bottle with orifice reducer. I do by volumn not weight since vetiver for example is heavy enough to sink in water where other oils are light enough to float. Guest guest
>15 drops of e.o. to 1 oz is approximately 2.5 percent if that helps anyone in >determining the ratio. The percentage must depend on the essential oil because I just checked the weight of 30 drops of Peppermeny Oil. The weight of 30 drops of Peppermint Oil is 0.66 grams. Therefore, the average weight of one drop of Peppermint Oil is 0.022 grams. 15 drops of Peppermint Oil weights 15 x 0.022 = 0.33 grams. If one weight ounce weighs 29.57 grams, therefore, 0.33 grams is approximately 1.1% of 29.57 grams. Maurice -------------------------------------------------------- Maurice O. Guest guest
, You don't want to let the scab come off before the skin has grown back underneath it. What you want to do is stimulate epithelial cell growth. When I want to do this I use herbal infusions of calendula or comfrey.
