Guest guest
Hello and welcome aboard! I'm so happy you found your way here. There are about a zillion different coping methods that have been discussed on this board. None of them are an absolute cure, but maybe you'll find one that works for you. The best I can do is share what works for me: meditation. Some other members of this group have also had some results with meditation- maybe they will weigh in and tell you more. The reason meditation helps me is that it's calming, it puts you back in control of your mind a little and it creates a space in your mind where the triggers can't reach. If you practice putting yourself into a trance state for a while, you may be able to do it when you can't escape a trigger. Good luck, and enjoy the feeling that you're no longer alone! -Kate > > Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so just thought i'd say hello. > Up until about a month ago I didn't know anything about > 4S/Hyperacusis/ Misophonia etc in fact I never even realised > that what I was suffering from was actually a genuine condition, > I thought it was just me and that I was some sort of freak! > I have recently visited my GP and we are investigating further. > > Because this is all new to me I would be interested to hear > other people's experiences and if you have any method's of coping > with the triggers, my worse trigger is keyboard typing - I share an > office with my boss and he is a heavy handed/slow/one finger typist, > it absolutely drives me mad to the point of rage, in fact i've had > to have three replacement keyboards in the last year > (try explaining that to the IT department!)
