I was sorry to read you had another cholangitis attach. What are the

symptoms? My doctors can't believe that I have never had an infection. I

think maybe I just didn't know what was happening and was lucky they went

away. I sure do hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Okay, I just took another dose of medicine... but hopefully I can get through

this before it really kicks in. Thursday night (at around 8pm) I was at

work..and I started itching all over. I had been taking vivarin like it was

candy... but I was still sooooooo very exhausted, and having quite a bit of

pain. After I went home that night, the pain got worse, along with the

itching, nausea..etc. I had my friend take me to the ER at the hosp. up

here. While I was waiting to go back into the ER, I went to the bathroom to

scratch. I then noticed I had red bumps all over me. When I was taken back

to the ER, the Dr came in right away... and told me that I was having an

alergic reaction to something. I told him I wasn't worried about the bumps,

but I was in excrutiating pain with my liver. His words were... " I don't

know what I can do about that, what do you expect me to do " . He was very

snotty about it, and I told him that I would just start going to the bigger

hospital in dayton. He screamed " fine then, get out of here... we're too

busy for this anyway " and started slamming things around. I went home, and

called my Dr. and he had me directly admitted into the larger hospital. They

took my blood right away, and the next morning... told me everything had went

up from a week ago. To make a long story short... they took my IV out sat.

afternoon to see how I would do with oral meds. By Sunday morning... my wbc

count had went back up. The Dr. left it up to me whether I went home... or

went back on IV meds for a night. I decided to go home... he also said that

if I had any problems at all... I could call him and he would admit me into

the hospital again. I'm still having quite a bit of pain and nausea, and I'm

hoping this will resolve quickly... (mainly because the meds for these are

knocking me on my butt!!) An interesting thing is... the Resident that was

working with my Dr, was talking about sending me to see a transplant team,

because of all the infections I have had. He didn't mention it today though,

so I'll wait and see what happens. When it came right down to seeing the

transplant team... I didn't want to go. A few more bouts of cholangitis

though, and I'm sure I'll be screaming to go. Thank you for all your

prayers, and well wishes... it means a lot to me. And please know, that I'm

praying for each one of you!

Sorry for leaving this out... we narrowed my allergic reaction down to the

Tylenol 3 with Codiene that I was taking for pain. It's now on my chart that

I'm allergic to codiene.

The first hospital I went to was Upper Valley Medical Center in between

Piqua and Troy ohio. The second one (where my Dr's work at) was Good

Samaritan Hospital in Dayton ohio.

This isn't the first time that I have had problems with the area hospital.

I'm supposed to call the Hospital's Risk Management person tomorrow, and I

plan to give him an earfull! Right before I was admitted into the larger

hospital... I was talking to the nursing supervisor for the smaller

hospital.. and I asked her " Do you realize how serious this disease can be? "

When she said no... I said " Apparently neither do your doctors!! " I

I'd say that right now, is the sickest I've been with this disease, but I'm

sure it will pass quickly, and I'll be able to get back to leading a normal

life. Thanks again for all the prayers! HA HA! The phenergan, and Vicadin

are kicking in... so it's bedtime for me once again.

P.S. Isn't it scary that they let something like me out of the hospital on

Halloween? LOL

I think Peg is 100% correct. It sounds like you need to get listed. Your

symtoms are worse than mine and my GI specialist and transplant doctor are

working to get me listed.

Whenever you into the emergency room, they will have GI doctor on call. You

should insist that they page him or her.

They way the doctor explained it to us is that the cholangitis attacks can be

life threating. The infection can back up into your whole system and toxify

(not

sure if that's a word) all your organs. Don't fool around with it. And that is

precisely why the doctor recommed Phil to be screened to be put on the tx list.

First of all, the process takes a long time, probably 3-6 months and if you get

on the list it doesn't mean that if you aren't ready for a transplant that you

have to take it. You'll have to be on the list for awhile and you don't want to

become critical before you get on it. This is how we feel about it. You can

also go on hold but you don't lose the time you've accrued. I just would hate

to

see any of you wait too long to get listed and then miss the chance to have a

transplant when you need one. , with the symptoms you are having, I

don't

beleive you are in the beginning stages of this disease. (Course I'm no expert

so I may be wrong).

About that other doctor in the first ER. I'd try to get copies of labs from the

other hospital and tell them to pound sand if they try to charge you or even

perhaps if you feel real brave report him to the state insurance commissioner

and

next time, (And I hope that won't be for a long time) Go to the larger doctor

and

insist that they call your GI doctor.

TIffany I hope you have someone to drive you around to/from hospitals when

you get sick.

Can be pretty dagerous if not feeling well or on drugs.

I am so sorry to hear about your recent attacks. Also, I cannot believe that

the people in the hospital treated you that way. It is unbelievable!!! I
