Guest guest
>SDA 40B in its pure form contains about 8% water and is 190 proof. Actually, SDA 40B 190 proof contains 5% v/v water which is closer to 6.2% w/w water. In it's pure form, SDA 40B is 200 proof and, by BATF regulations, does not contain water. The recipe for pure 200 proof SDA 40B is Ethyl Alcohol = 100 gallons denatonium benzoate, N.F. = 1/16 av. oz. tert-butyl alcohol = 1/8 gallon >We have >this product bottled with the addition of 10% additional water by a >local cosmetic manufacturer so that it can be sold without a license >from the ATF (Federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). >This too is clearly stated on our website. It may be less than 190 >proof after it is blended but we are providing ingredients, not >final product specs. So, if I understand, your vendor is taking 190 proof SDA 40B and adding 10% w/w water. If that is the case, the alcohol that you are selling contains about 16% w/w water. BTW, your website says that your " Perfumers Blend " is not regulated for shipping purposes. What does the material safety data sheet say is the flash point? You may want to check because I think it will meet the definition of a Class 1A Flammable Liquid and will be subject to DOT and, of course, OSHA regulations. Class IA -- Includes those having flash points below 73 degrees Fahrenheit (22.8 degrees centigrade) and having a boiling point below 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees centigrade).
