Guest guest
Lynn - I do tend to have joint pain, especially in my hands. I have no idea if it is PSC related, but I have read that since PSC is an autoimmune disease, it is likely that other autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis, would also appear. I think I read that at another support group for liver disease. Although I do not know how accurrate that is. Dawn

Guest guest
Roy, For my joint pain I have been taking a supplement, chondrotin/glucosamaine. It has really helped me. Larry
Guest guest
Lynn, I believe that joint pain is more typical of people with UC. If anyone has joint pain, according to the leaky gut tape, if you take Ibuprofen or methotrexate it can actually make it worse. Try to stay away from red meats. The protein isn't good for arthritis and joint pain, it causes the joints to get inflamed. I have noticed that when I have steak the next couple of days my wrist and knuckles bother me. Guest guest
Lynn, As the PSC progresses, I have noticed a difference in how much I can bend... etc. If I bend my knees to pick something up (for proper body mechanics in nursing) my knees hurt. That's really the only place I have noticed hurting all the time, although I do sometimes get pains in my shoulders, but I attribute this to all the lifting I do. HA HA! I'm 21, and sometimes feel 81. <grin> Love,

Guest guest
Hi.........It was Mike's transplant surgeon who when we originally saw him after he reviewed his records. made the like statement about the urgency of transplant. Matter of fact he told us that he'd like to see Mike get a transplant within the next 2-3 years due to the longevity of his UC. Well that time has past and doesn't that make you feel real special!!!!!!!!! I also feel that when the film showed what they thought was a tumor in his liver, that they themselves were convinced it was Cancer. Fortunately for us that was not the case.not a sign anywhere. Guest guest
You'd think that scare would have made them more anxious to get him transplanted. I guess it's not as much up to the doctors as we would like it to be. I'm curious as to what UCLA will do with Phil. His doctor and Kaiser have set him up to get listed. Hope UCLA feels the same way. He's been well (cholangitis free not symptom free) for so long we're afraid that might go against him. Isn't it a shame that you almost have to wish he gets sick to get him what he needs. YUK! The limbo thing is soooo hard. It's like your life is on hold and then you worry that if they ever get the transplant, will they be too old to enjoy it. Well we just have to pray and believe that as Jacquelyn would say " God's perfect timing " will put their transplants at the right time. Who knows maybe during this wait they will be some new discovery that will eliminate the need for transplant or will eliminate the need for all the drugs afterward or something like that. Phil strongly believes that.
