I'm using googleapps - free, fairly easy to set up - and functional but design

is limited. For now I'm satisfied but may need more functionality if move to a

subscription website.

My website is in need of a makeover --

I used FrontPage (microsoft) years ago to design the first website for a

past medical group.

It worked well for what it was - had some templates and (I guess) CSS - at

least all the webpages looked the same.

But when I converted over to Dreamweaver, lots of the imported pages didn't

work as well and I can't seem to update as easily.

After that medical group dissolved and FrontPage quit being made - I bought

Dreamweaver to import the old site and update it.

That worked for awhile, but it is sorely in need of a revamp.

Plus, I have an aesthetic component that I want to give my Aesthetic RN the

capability to modify those pages online -- having the original files at home

doesn't allow that modification by her - at least not easily.

I need to use CSS/cascading style sheets, but am too clueless to design my

own - and lazy to figure it out in Dreamweaver.

It appears there are several online Website Builders now - some look like

they should work well.

I would use some of the professional companies, but I'm cheap.

They charge >$1,000 to set up a website and many charge $50-$100 to

" maintain/host " the site - plus you have to go through them to update the

site - so not convenient for on-the-fly changes.

So, for those maintaining your own sites - and happy with the product, could

Wordpress is a blogging software, but really a CMS or content management system.

It's what we all need: a way to frequently, reliably and painlessly update our

websites AND have it look clean and well-presented. So even if you don't

blog(and you should), you can use wordpress to manage your website content.

anytime through the standard wordpress admin interface. Navigation is fully

managed through the use of Pages. Any Post can be categorized as 'Featured' and

allows you to manage your own wordpress installation, or pay someone to

manage/customize it for you.

and the resources to solve issues(google) are freely available.

Be advised there are security concerns that should be addressed if you plan to

I've been trying out the free options (trial option) on CityMax.com, Homestead.com, etc - but haven't been impressed with their templates - - pretty stock options.

SquareSpace has some really nice templates and it's pretty easy to use their website online software -- can even cut & paste old website code that seems to show up fine once it is done, but...it's mainly a bloggers site and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that other website hosting companies have (ie godaddy.com) where you can also incorporate online sales and other fancier things (for the same or lower price compared to SquareSpace), but perhaps I will go with SS for now and keep my options open to migrate to another site in the future.

My husband mentioned squarespace.com.  Looks like a pretty sophisticated package that is easy to use -classier than brinkster, etc.  A little more expensive but not bad.  On the order of $20 per month. Looks like you can get into the nitty gritty of CSS if you want.

I built a website for my wife's restaurant using Wordpress hosted on Hostgator. I'll probably do the same for my practice (if I ever get it up and running). I've found Hostgator to be excellent with great customer service. I think I pay $150 per year for it. They provide a number of ways to build a website: a customized design; a number of Blog/Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Joomla, etc...), shopping carts, and a lot of other Open Source software that you can use.

They have a nice management interface with cPanel and fantastico for loading open source packages.Regarding wordpress, it is free but I'd check the licensing to make sure there are not legal stipulations on that. There are thousands of themes available many for free and some for a reasonable price. You may be able to find a medical practice theme that will fit your needs. In fact, I'd almost put money on it. 

The Wordpress support forum is excellent and there is a very large community of people developing and adding to Wordpress. If you ever want to develop something unique there are many developers that are familiar with Wordpress and you could probably find on easily.

Wordpress is a blogging software, but really a CMS or content management system. It's what we all need: a way to frequently, reliably and painlessly update our websites AND have it look clean and well-presented. So even if you don't blog(and you should), you can use wordpress to manage your website content.

I have been using a theme called BigBusiness that has completely changed the ease of managing a website. You use Pages and Posts and update any of these anytime through the standard wordpress admin interface. Navigation is fully managed through the use of Pages. Any Post can be categorized as 'Featured' and it will show up immediately on the front page slideshow. All with no coding.

The newest theme from the coder of BigBusiness is called Tesla and is even better. http://themeforest.net/item/tesla-advanced-minimalist-business-wp-theme/full_screen_preview/125105 The themes cost around $35, ridiculously cheap, but allow a huge amount of flexibility. (I have no affiliation with this guy. But will add he is very helpful and concerned with the successful use of his themes!)

oh thank you!I  haven't figured out how to rotate the bear..... MAybe I can stand sideways when I take its photo...Will add office entrance photo and  HYH logo an d IMP logo . Husband  the virtual MA, declines a photo shoot

 Tried to get Kidman to  stand in for my photo  but she was busy.(I hate  that photo stuff ugh:)  )Hoping to  join the  rest of you IMPs  in  21 st C...These siteskins folks   made it completely painless. I had tried   yola and Google but hit walls and  quit.
