These are people she had known from the beginning and feels she can keep up with right now. She is doing about the same but is planning to have a friend help her resolve some of her problems and take some more steps that may speed up her recovery. It's very hard for her to sit at the computer because of her legs. So I try to talk with her on the phone as much as I can and relay her progress to you guys. Keep praying for her it's very hard with 2 small children. On a good note she is singing at a friends wedding, infact she sang a little of the song for me on Friday. She is such a sweet person. I just hope and pray with all of my heart that she does what is right for her. Her health has been bothering me, as well as all of you, so much that it makes one sick. She is profoundly such a good Christian, mother, wife and friend that it is so hard to understand why she, of all people, should be going through this. It goes to show that nothing is 100%. I just wish that there was something we all could do, but I think you all are doing it -- standing behind her and giving her such support. Does her husband ever post? Regarding a second opinion, I think that sounds like a really good idea. I don't recall whether Jacquelyn has medical insurance but many programs will pay for the cost of second opinion, especially if surgery is being considered. They might even pay for travel if needed. It's not making waves to ask for a second or third opinion. Most doctors are used to this and are not offended by the idea. If there is going to be a fund raiser, please send me an address and I will make a contribution. I don't really understand the medical problem, but it may not necessarily be the result of some kind of surgical error. All major surgery is risky and especially organ transplants. I have a relative who had a very bad experience a few years ago with a surgical procedure that was done to correct a clogged artery. Without this surgery he would have had a major stroke and possibly died. Well, unfortunately the surgery did not go well and he had a stroke anyway, which has left him partially disabled. He remains very bitter toward the surgeon and toward the medical profession in general. Jacquelyn has medicare and supplemental Secure Horizons. Medicare paid all but $8.00 of her surgery but Secure Horizons isn't paying one of her anti-rejection meds. I'm sure they would if she'd just enlist her doctors help and confront them. I think I pushed her hard enough that she had a friend help her with it and they are looking into it. I don't know how Medicare and Secure Horizons are about changing facilities when it comes to transplant situations. But if she isn't getting proper care there has got to be something she should do. She seems to be overwhelmed just trying to take care of the kids and keep up with life. Her greatgrandmother just died right after she and the kids made a trip to Galveston to see her so they had to go back for the funeral and she was singing for a friends wedding last week. I also would love to send a donation. It breaks my heart to hear of her struggles, and the many others' struggles here on this group. I haven't been with this group very long, and don't know who has come and go on this list. But my biggest fear with this list is that someday we are going to lose one of us. I'm often at a loss for words when I read posts about serious and critical moments, but my heart aches with every post and I pray for all of you. When obituaries are posted in our local paper, they always list an address and name or organization to send " memorials " to. In my heart it make more sense to send a donation now to contribute toward the returning health of a friend, rather than to help pay for funeral expenses later. She had spendt a wonderful day with her children at their church's fall festival. She said that he had been down with another kidney infection and well as her UC doing real bad and also the vascular problem but felt well enough to go out with her family yesterday. I told her about the offers from the group to contribute to the funds that were being taken up to get her some help to resolve her vascular problem. She was touched and said that she will e-mail the addresses to me. She said there are 2 ways on that is tax deductible and that either way would help her. So I will forward it as soon as I get it. I have to really apologize and ask your forgiveness for not getting online very frequently. I miss all of you all so much, but have not felt like getting online very often. Please do not think that the liver tx was a bad thing....MY LIVER IS DOING AND FUNCTIONING beautifully. No itching is such a wonderful thing!!!! There is a problem with an arterey called the inferior vena cava and the docs are still saying it's too risky to fix. But after Penny's sweet encouragement, I did ask for a second opinion and they are working to get one. I also did get a " hard blow " this past week at the docs office. They and most of the docs at Baylor are dropping all HMO's including the one that I am on. (And to tell you the truth I don't blame them...any way that's a long story!! ) So, I do believe that we will go with conventional Medicare. Although they don't pay for any prescriptions, we have done some fundraising and we have decided to put it in the Good Lord's hands.....He's brought me this far....I just have to stay focused on Him and all will be all right....for me and for all of you!!! Please know that I pray for ALL OF YOU each and every day and night....so do the kids and Luke. Everyone....will you please join me in continuous prayer for Penny. I got a message from Peg (my angel!!) that Penny is in the hospital with a blockage. I was in those shoes just months ago, but now that's not an issue anymore. Please pray for the doctors to have the wisdom and knowledge that they need to get her to feeling 100%.....well....at least 75%!! I love you all dearly!! My sweet husband doesn't have time to post b/c he's so busy taking care of me, the kids, his engineering work, and his new " fishing ministry " inc. that we've started. Your question as to why this is happening to me...I don't have an answer for...but I want you to know that I am at peace at whatever God allows me to go through because I hold onto that verse in Romans 8:28.. " For we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose. " When I am sick and out in public or when I talk to anyone I am able tell them all of the blessings that He has given us....Three walking miracles, me and and Calvin.....We can throw on Luke as a walking miracle too b/c of the way he has endured all of my sufferings and has never once complained or left my side. So, I always can find something good about every event in my life...Sometimes it takes me praying for an answer daily, weekly.....just in His perfect timing. Thank you again for being so kind!!! Guest guest Posted November 19, 1999 Report Share Posted November 19, 1999 I spoke with Jacquelyn. Her GYN has found the source of her colon problems. It is being constricted by adhesions. She has had several surgeries and unfortunately adhesions can be the aftermath of from surgeries especially multiple surgeries. He also had a fit about her legs and said he would talk with the vascular surgeon. The problems she is having with Secure Horizons and Baylor not accepting HMO's anymore sounds like a visious circle with poor Jacquelyn in the middle. They are going to go with straight medicare and that way she will have more choices in doctors and medical centers etc. The problem is it won't cover her meds. She has found a few sources to help her with that. It isn't bad enough to have all this physical pain but so many of you guys have to suffer dealing with the medical RULERS. She has been told to absolutely stay off her feet for the weekend. And while I was talking to her a spider bit her. Hope that ends up okay. She lasted through our long conversation with no ill effects so that's a good sign. Well it's time to go home. Talk to ya'll later.
