Just thought I'd repost this to see if anyone had any

insight.....thanks!!

Hi, everyone!

I'm new to the site and glad to be here!

My son had an OAT test which showed very high arabinose levels

(85.84). We did a stool culture that showed no yeast, but high

bacteria. (I don't have a copy of that report--just verbally from

the dr.)

She said to cut sugars and double our probiotic. (We use Kirkmans

Pro Bio Gold.) But I am still questioning whether or not he has a

yeast issue. I've heard a stool test may not show it and I also

recently learned that Dr. Shaw has said arabinose is the best marker

foryeast.

We have an appt. with our DAN! doctor next week. What advice might

you have? Should I ask for a prescription for Diflucan? Nystatin?

Both? We also used Yeast Aid for a week (and did see improvement

using Yeast Aid, doubled probitic and eliminated sugars.) Should we

continue on that?

Also, is it OK to use honey when eliminating sugar? And, I've read

2 fruits a day are OK--is that true?

Thanks for your help!

Honey is the same as sugar and contraindicated on GF/CF/SF/SF

(no gluten, casein, soy, or sugar). Your doctor should tell you

what your child needs from history and testing. Dr. JM
