Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to the list. I am a psychologist in the Davie area working primarily with children on the spectrum. I have been looking into begining a coping skills group for siblings of autistic children mostly because of the needs I have seen among my clients' families. I was hoping to get some feedback from list members on what the needs are for siblings and what has been beneficial or not beneficial about previous coping skills groups. Thanks for your feedback, Terri Terri Jennings, Ph.D. Healing Hooves Psychotherapy, Inc. 3500 Peaceful Ridge Road Davie, Florida 33330 www.healinghoovesinc.com
Guest guest
We have not been to any of the siblings programs but my young teenager has to experince a lot of teasing due to the fact that his younger brother (an aspergers child) seems extremely odd to his friends and others his age. He can stress out about having to stand up for his brother and worries that one day he will get beat up by someone because of something his brother did or a situation that his autistic brother has forced him to intervene. He simply does not have the right words to use when being confronted by uncaring adolescents who prefer to bully or tease him simply because of his relation to an autistic child. siblings groups Hi, I'm new to the list.
