Guest guest Posted March 8, 2004 Report Share Posted March 8, 2004 Actually, the main ingredient in aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, which is a modified version of salicylic acid that is less destructive to the inner lining of your GI tract. Topical applications like facial cleansers use salicylic acid. Just my two cents.
