Guest guest
Update: I am now wearing a portable EEG unit and my head is covered in wires glue and tape. The wires run thru a sock-type thing into a box that's velcro'd across my chest and a wire runs from that to a unit that's strapped to my waist. Quite a sight I'm sure!!! I don't care - I get to wear this for almost 72 hours. The neurologist was hesitating because the insurance company sent him forms that didn't really apply. He said he'd call them but if they refuse to pay he would have to charge me (and my husband) and even with a discount it would be about $1500. My husband jumped right in and said " that's fine, we'll pay it " . The neurologist seemed excited to begin trying to figure this out. My initial base-line EEG was completely normal so this portable unit will record what's happening in my brain when I get triggered (and I will keep notes). He said we will do this and if we need to, we'll do an MRI and see what's going on. He is suspecting some type of reflexive epilepsy but he is understanding that it is reflexive. It's a reflex - not a thought. He was saying that it would be a great story to find out what this is so he can treat it and I can be happy. If anyone else here is in the San Diego area, please try to go to Dr. Er-Kai Gao. More answers as I get them . . . Also - I met two more people who have 4S - I just watch for clues and start gently asking questions . . . I am on a mission!!! And I thank you my on-line family for the support and keeping me actively involved.
