Guest guest
Sinus reaction could be due to a low-level allergic response to the carrier, or even the capsule material. Common fills or carriers include corn starch and common reactions to such carriers are mild sinus drainage. When the drainage is very slight you may not be able to detect it - just get a felling that you need to clear your throat, as you describe. It subsides after the body has dealt with the allergen - for you in about an hour. Kind of like walking through a pollen field and getting a runny nose for a few minutes. Guest guest
I have the same thing happen but never connected it to Minocin. I take mine at 6:00 a.m. and by the time I get to work at 8:00 a.m., I have a lot of drainage and have to constantly clear my throat. I take the brand name not generic. Interesting what Geoff had to say. Guest guest
I've been having the same thing, but never thought to connect it with minocin. I've been on minocin since 12/24/98--it was my Christmas present. The throat thing started a week or two ago I've been feeling so good I haven't been keeping track of things like I use to I haven't written in my Journal for weeks. I'm anxiously awaiting my remission post. I think we should put remissions posts somewhere together I'm trying to get a friend of a friend with lupus to on AP and like to print out encouraging info, unfortunitely she's not online so she can't just come here I know that would convince her. Guest guest
This is really interesting! I was tested for allergies and none showed up. However, I've begun to think I may be sensitive to corn because it seems I have more pain after eating corn. This summer I plan to do the sensitivity food testing with a nauropath. I'm wondering if you take your Minocin with a full glass of water, even two? If you don't the Minocin can get stuck in your throat and cause quite a serious reaction. Perhaps it isn't stuck but isn't going down properly and causing the sensation you're feeling? Chris.
Guest guest
It could also reflect a general gut problem. Corn, like many grains, has a complex structure which is hard to digest. People with celiac (spelling?) disease show the small intestine flattening out (villi fold flat) when gluten - or grains - are eaten. This can cause digestive problems... -Mike- P.S. It's done using a computer and is extremely sensitive and accurate. The issue isn't gross reactions of the type allergists test for with the scratches and all. It's more along the line of multiple minor sensitivities all of which added together end up making a major impact on the immune system and overall health. Sounds like corn is " really obvious " for you. -- Regards, Geoff Crenshaw, ACC ---------------------- Managing Partner ** No Disclaimers ** Captain Cook's Cruise Center ---------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Over 3,000 daily cruise & tour specials > Top 5% of Web Sites http://www.800-800-cruise.com [specials] > Top 100 Travel Sites .. > Top Web Sites for Cruise tips New Zealanders http://www.800-800-cruise.com [tips] USA PH: 800-800-CRUIse PH: 559-636-8413 FAX: 559-734-1420 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- geoff@... Guest guest
Hello all, I have previoulsy written to but I had the same thing happened except not only just after the mincocin I sometimes would have the need to try to clear my throat during the day. I went to my internist about this and she said it was yeast. After beefing up on the acidophillus and going on a yeast and sugar free diet, the problem corrected itself. At 09:46 PM 6/3/99 -0700, you wrote: >From: arjay <arjay@...> > >I've been having the same thing, but never thought to connect it with >minocin. Guest guest
I wouldn't have thought you could have a yeast problem by those symptoms but if the acidophilus cleared it up that seems to be the answer. I am constantly clearing my throat all day, and have slight phlegmy cough all day. Also sinus/allergy feeling which I never used to have. Am going to natureopath on Wed. 9th and see what he says. Will let everyone know for their own informtion.
