Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who has answered me about the reflux and medications and their interaction with the Minocin. For those of you who are taking Prilosec and similar medications, I think it might be advisable to speak with your doctors to make sure you are getting the maximum effect from the AP. In THE PILL BOOK, under Minocin it states: " Cimetidine, Rantidine, and other H2 antagonists may reduce the amount of Tetracycline antibiotic absorbed into the bloodstream, thereby decreasing its effectiveness. " Prilosec is a stomach acid inhibitor and that, I believe, is what an H2 antagonist is. (Though I may be wrong.....Please respond, anyone if you know for sure!) Antacids can be taken if they are separated in time by at least 2 hours (as people do for vitamins, minerals, calcium etc.) Soooooo, that's all I know for now. I will see my internist to see if an ulcer is causing my symptoms or just old reflux (which I suspect). By the way, my symptoms are just a sore throat, at times, and hoarseness (gets worse after food), so if any on you have these you could have reflux too ( I have no stomach pain or hearburn). I appreciate all your suggestions and help. I have known about aloe vera, and should try it. I probably will. Also, thanks for the food list I should avoid. It's so hard as I am a chocaholic mexican food lover, but when I eat my chocolate, sugar free, frozen soy dessert, it does act up more. I am due to restart the Minocin Monday, having finished the sinus meds. My ASO test was negative, but my doctor didn't do the mycoplasma test..he's quite disdainful of the infectious theory but is very supportive of the drug and using it long-term, and he's so nice, so we can't have everything. Only two more days till blast off! I will be more active here when I get my new computer. Mine is so old and slow it takes forever. Thank you all. Feel good.
